Marc . Cox, CEO and Managing Partner
Marc Cox is a highly respected businessman in finance and real estate development specializing in redevelopment of single family and multi - family projects. As a real estate developer entrepreneur he has experience in all levels of home building and renovation including property level feasibility, due diligence analysis, acquisitions, financing, entitlements, product creation & architecture and general contracting. Marc has Acquired, Renovated, and Sold over 500 rentals and 200 homeowner properties. Renovated over 100 Commercial properties with retail tenants. Mr. Cox is able to envision the “big picture” with every project he is involved with, Marc uses his negotiating skills to bring people together and give back to the community and in the process, making each negotiation a winning situation for all sides. As he says, “Good Business means Business has to be beneficial for all parties.”
Irwin Boris, Chief Investment Officer
Irwin was the CIO/COO for Heritage Capital Group, a 3rd Generation Real Estate Family Office. Heritage is an active operator/investor in Flex/Industrial, Office and Multifamily properties. Prior to joining, Mr. Boris worked sourcing acquisitions for several private investors (foreign & US) where he was responsible for deal sourcing, negotiation, underwriting, due diligence and financing; and was a top originator during his 10-year tenure with Capmark Finance / GMAC Commercial Mortgage. Irwin has more than 30 years experience in real estate finance, investment and asset management. During his professional career, Irwin has participated as a direct lender, principal, investment banker and advisor in more than $5.0 billion in real estate transactions. .In addition to being on the Real Estate Advisory Committee at Fordham University, Irwin is a frequent speaker on real estate investing at family office and other industry conferences, making appearances three to four times each year. Mr. Boris received his Masters in Real Estate from New York University with a concentration in Real Estate Investment and received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Long Island University-CW Post. He is a licensed real estate broker in New York.
Alice Catalano, Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer
Alice is responsible for growing relationships with clients and contributing to the firm’s overall business development. She joined Lares in November 2019 and has over 20 years of private equity business development experience. She was previously Managing Director Investor Relations and Business Development for Sarona Asset Management a leading impact investor. Prior to Sarona she was Managing Director of Fundraising and Marketing for Prostar Capital where she helped grow the start-up private equity firm to over $500mm AUM. She started her career in private equity at NGP Energy Capital Management where she led the investor relations and fundraising efforts of 10 funds and was actively involved in business development efforts, helping to grow the firm to over $13 billion AUM. Ms. Catalano has a B.S. in Finance from Northeastern University.
Zachary Zimmerman, Managing Director - Capital Markets
Zachary Zimmerman joined Lares in 2019 and is the managing director of capital markets. Prior to going into real estate and later joining Mioym, Zachary founded a company that developed an energy management platform for multi-unit restaurant and hotel operators which allowed them to manage and optimize energy use and lower costs. After developing the software, he continued to focus on sales and grew the business to include many major franchise concepts and national chains, eventually leading to the sale of the business at an aggressive multiple. After selling his software, Zachary entered the Real Estate industry and was very quickly drawn to the finance side, where he began sourcing both debt and equity for a myriad of projects and sponsors. Throughout his career, Zachary has worked with and developed relationships with a variety of sponsors, ranging from small developers and owners to large institutional investors, which has allowed him to place over $1B in both debt and equity. Zachary also invests in real estate himself, having both invested in and purchased multifamily and mixed-use properties throughout the southeast and northeast. Zachary's focus is value add opportunities, where he can renovate apartments and increase rents. Zachary graduated from University of Wisconsin, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science & Economics.
Alice Vysata, Managing Director - Acquisitions
Alice Vysata is the Managing Director of Acquisitions for Lares, Originally from Short Hills, New Jersey, Vysata earned a B.A. from the University of Miami and has pursued post-graduate studies in Real Estate Development, Real Estate Law, Zoning, Construction, Finance, and most recently, Marketing Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the London School of Economics. Prior to joining Mioym Equities, Alice was Director of Acquisitions for a private equity investor during which time she sourced, evaluated and closed government subsidized and conventional apartment buildings throughout various U.S. markets. Alice became the top producer in the company and alone spearheaded $83MM in multifamily acquisitions totaling 2,150 units. Responsibilities included financial modeling of the acquisition, researching market fundamentals, historical performance and expense analysis, recommending improvements to cash flow, reviewing due diligence materials and third party reports, projecting immediate and on-going capital needs of the asset, handling submissions for HUD and local housing authorities, preparing LOIs, PSAs and partnership agreements, developing investment committee memoranda, presenting the opportunity to partners, and overseeing a team of analysts and interns. Alice was a partner in nearly 500 affordable and conventional multifamily units between 2015 to 2019 and has an intricate understanding of their operational efficiencies and upside, while focusing on maximizing partners’ returns.
Nicholas Locker, Principal - Investor Relations & Capital Markets
Nicholas Locker is a Principal of Investor Relations & Capital Markets for Lares, based in the Westchester office. Prior to joining Lares Equities in 2019, Mr. Locker was a Manager at PwC within their Transaction Services area focusing on Financial Due Diligence to help Private equity clients create deal value by building the critical link between strategy and execution. Mr. Locker has also assisted in all phases of the deal - whether strategy assessment and targeting, deal structuring, due diligence, valuation, or integration. Prior to joining PwC, he was a senior associate at KPMG, within their Transaction Services area focusing on Private Equity and Hedge Funds. Mr. Locker received a Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance / Accounting, and minor in Economics from the University of Michigan. He is a licensed real estate broker in New York.
Dean Tahir, Principal - Investment Operations
Dean Joined Lares in early 2019. He graduated from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Minor in Political Science. He Now attends Fordham University doing a Master in Real Estate Development along with his MBA With a combined 10 years of experience as both a VP and President in a Boutique Construction company he was doing, project management and multi-million-dollar projects after which he then jumped over to the Commercial Real Estate side to broaden his skill set. Dean then transitioned his skills and knowledge into private equity sector. Dean’s role as a VP plays an integral part in Lares Equities’ overall expansion. He works with hundreds of brokers to acquire investment assets such as Commercial/Multi-family deals and residential debt pools, across the United States.
Jamie Hadec, Strategic Operating Partner
Ms. Hadac is CEO, 2020 Realty Realty Partners, LLC, she joined Lares in 2019 as an Operating Partner. Jamie was Integral part of inception of Foresite’s Property Management Company, Foresite Realty Management, in April 2007 to address the market needs for a one stop shop – receivership, property management and brokerage. She was responsible for overseeing who are the day-to-day management of 10,000 multi-family units spread amongst 15 states throughout the Midwest She served as Court Appointed Receiver, reporting to the Court/Judge, (at Lender’s recommendation) in over 100 cases in various jurisdictions.
Dan Dvoskin, Senior Associate
Dan Dvoskin focuses on the valuation, structuring, and execution of acquisitions. He also holds responsibilities related to the post-acquisition monitoring and management of portfolio properties. Dan holds a Bachelors in Business Administration - Major Finance from the University of Connecticut
Noah Tahir, Analyst
Noah Tahir is responsible for analyzing acquisition opportunities and working with the rest of the team to execute deals. Previously, Noah worked at a hedge fund conducting research on a myriad of different equity investment opportunities. Noah graduated from Marist College with a B.S. in Finance in 2018 and is currently pursuing the CFA designation.
